The tenants at 976 Elden Ave got a new landlord last summer. Right away, the landlord raised the rent 8%, the maximum allowed by law. Now, they have raised it again: 8.7% starting October 1. The landlord has said their plan is to raise the rent the maximum every year until the rents reach market rate. 

Many of the tenants in the building have lived there for decades. They cannot afford these increases.

The landlords, Shahram and Daniel Lavian, live in Beverly Hills. They own multiple properties in Los Angeles and a diamond business downtown.

The tenants say ENOUGH! We deserve to stay in our neighborhood!
